Puzzle theme not working with my images
-
The theme does not let me crop or resize to set the featured image so that it fits in the puzzle pieces the theme shows. This destroys the look of the theme altogether, which makes it useless to me. Am I supposed to scour the images to find the exact size they used when they built the theme? That is ridiculous and the theme info should announce “buyer beware!! Only OUR images fit with this theme!!”
This is super frustrating (obviously) after paying 79$ for a “customizable” “premium” theme. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is actually a bit of text on the theme’s about page which says:
The featured post thumbnails (on the homepage) are resized to 545 wide by 280 tall – however keep in mind that they will be cropped differently depending upon the size of the tile they are being used in.
With that said, since you purchased your theme within the last 30 days, I will be more than happy to cancel it for you and refund you the full $79. If you would like me to do so, please let me know!

Thank you! That fixed the “issue” which was me and not the theme. My bad.
One thing though, I can’t seem to get a youtube video to show from the home page.
Any ideas? I’d like for a person to be able to see the image displayed on youtube and the “play” button without having to move off the home page.
Thank you,

Hiya Heidi,
Are you talking about your same blog with the puzzle theme? If so, the only way in which you could set something like that up would be to have a page load as your home page instead of that nice puzzle effect. When people visit your site, they would be greeted with that youtube video and then could click on a link which you set to go to your blog entries.
If you’d like to look in to this as an option, you can check out this help center article on setting up a static home page:

Hi Heidi,
In reference to that other ticket you posted (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/what-size-will-it-crop-to), the images which you post can be pretty random, but Puzzle does give you the option of having a more predictable pattern to the way in which it displays the images.
If you go to the home page for the theme, right here:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/puzzle/
You’ll see in the section labelled “Home Page Layout” a description of the other options:
Puzzle‘s most unique feature is the homepage layout — however, if the puzzle layout isn’t for you, then you can select from two other options — a brick-structured layout, or a more traditional grid.
Basically what you would need to do is log in to your Dashboard and go to Appearance >> Customizer >> Options and select whichever option suits you best. These other layouts give your images a more regular look.
Also, keep in mind that you also have access to the theme author him/herself. If you go to that same page and click the support button, there is a link to the Puzzle support forum, which is managed by the theme author. If you run in to any issues which we cannot handle, you can look for help there!
