Q: how to change URL extensions for site pages
-
Thanks in advance! I used WordPress for my site, but I built it using the builder on BlueHost, which hosts the site. How do I change the URL for each page so that the extension says what the page is about? For instance, my FAQ page has this URL: https://youraudioportrait.com/?page_id=120. I’d like to change it to https://youraudioportrait.com/FAQ. BlueHost support said I need to contact WordPress with this question. Thanks:)
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Clarification: my website is https://youraudioportrait.com/. I built it using the BlueHost site builder, which is WordPress-based.

We can’t help as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform nor can we help with with that Bluehost builder. You must contact Bluehost support to solve this problem.

I appreciate your reply, @staartmees. Guess I have to talk with a more helpful BlueHost support person.

BlueHost is correct in directing you to WordPress for this question. While both WordPress and BlueHost play a role in your website, the permalink settings, which control the URLs of individual pages, are primarily defined within WordPress itself. Here’s how you can change the URL for your FAQ page and other pages:
1: Using the WordPress Dashboard:
Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
Go to Pages > All Pages.
Find the FAQ page you want to modify.
Click on the page title to open the editing screen.
Scroll down to the “Permalink” section.
In the “Custom Link” field, enter the new URL you want for the page. In your case, this would be “/FAQ”.
Click “Publish” or “Update” to save the changes.
2: Using the Gutenberg Editor:Open the page you want to modify in the Gutenberg editor.
Click on the three dots (…) in the top right corner of the editor window.
Select “Permalink” from the menu.
In the “Custom Link” field, enter the new URL you want for the page. In your case, this would be “/FAQ”.
Click “Publish” or “Update” to save the changes. -
