Query on external domain expiry

Hello,
I have a domain registered with freeparking.co.uk that has an expiry date of Sept 28 2022, and I want to repurchase this same domain via WordPress once it’s available to do so.
Will I be able to put a request in to buy it via WordPress (so I can set up a new site here on WP using that domain) from Sept 28, or will I need to wait until the full expiry period has passed before I’ll be able to purchase it on WordPress?
Freeparking is saying ‘expiring in 60 days’ so I’m just trying to understand if I need to wait for that full period before I can put in a request to buy the url, or if I can get one in the day it expires and then just wait till it’s officially available again.

About domains:
Have you already purchased a domain name with another provider (also known as a registrant), such as GoDaddy or 1&1? If you want to use this domain with your WordPress.com site, you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com so that you can manage your site and domain registration at the same place.

I would highly encourage you to transfer your domain to WordPress.com BEFORE it expires at your current registrar. Once a domain expires, it can be complicated and expensive to sort it back out again.
