query re sapphire theme

    Hi, I’ve been using the Sapphire theme by Michael Martine ever since I began blogging. The question I’ve always wanted to ask is this:

    My sidebar appears just fine when I’m on my home page (or any other page), but when I click on an individual post, the sidebar disappears and the layout becomes a one-column instead of a two-column layout (as Sapphire is supposed to have). With other themes, the sidebar remains onscreen even when you view an individual post, allowing readers to navigate the sidebar from that particular post. Is this really a feature of Sapphire, for the sidebar to disappear whenever you view an individual post?

    Hope you can help, thanks!

    That’s the way Sapphire works. Also Kubrick. There are a few themes that do that.

    Oh, blerg. No wonder it isn’t the most popular of themes. But I’m liking Sapphire too much to want to change. XD

    Thanks very much! At least now I know. =D

    @endersgirrrl
    Every blog directory chiclet, social networking badge, every icon, every avatar in every follower widget, and every blogroll link is an external link leaking link juice. Unless your blog has a balance of inbound links, choosing to have a sidebar full of externally linked “tat” that loads every time a page loads on your blog is not wise. So in terms of leaking link juice choosing to use a theme like Sapphire that lacks a sidebar that loads every time a page is loaded in your blog is not a negative factor.
