Query regardin blog address change and google search results

  Hi,

  I created my blog almost an year back an it is indexed by google. If I change the blog address now (to something like xxxxxx.wordpress.com) will it affect the google search results pointing to my blog?
  Is there any way the search results from google can also be updated to point to the new blog?

  Yes. The new URL will look to Google like a brand new blog, and your old blog’s incoming links will go nowhere. It will take months to recover your pagerank. This is why I always recommend ONLY changing URLs if you’re going to a custom domain, like whatever.com. To go to a different whatever.wordpress.com URL doesn’t make ANY sense to me whatsoever.
