Query regarding Plans for site monetization

I am planing to connect my new domain by choosing one of your paid plans. Thought of going with the Personal plan first but it doesn’t list the ‘Site monetization’ feature. My primary focus would be on Ads (AdSense and/or AdWords) to earn money. Please let me know if I can monetize my site if I choose Personal plan. Awaiting your quick reply to choose a plan and start right away. Thank you.

  • Hi there,

On the Personal Plan you can apply for our WordAds program, as long as you connect a custom domain. But admission to WordAds will be dependent on your site having a minimum level of traffic. On the Premium Plan admission to WordAds is automatic, with no minimum traffic requirement.

Google Adsense can only be used on our Business Plan.

    Monetize Your Site

AdWords (now actually called Google Ads) is a service offered by Google where you pay them to advertise your site in Google search results. Google Ads is not an ad network you can use to earn income on any website, and also has nothing to do with any upgrade plans we offer on WordPress.com.

Thank you so much for your time. I would like to be a bit more clear on that. If I go with Personal plan, what would be the minimum level of traffic asked/required to get the admission to WordAds?
Here I have a blog already running on Free plan, with only some amount of traffic. Ho would I know that converting it to the Personal plan will help me to get the admission to WordAds? Or is it like only after the day of choosing the plan it starts considering the traffic/hits? I am asking this because if it requires more and more work then I can again think of the Premium plan to get the automatic admission.

  • Your traffic would need to be moderate to high. Bear in mind also that, even if you are accepted into the WordAds program, you may not start earning immediately.
Advertisers demand fluctuates like the stock market and the price advertisers are willing to pay fluctuates as well, it’s not a constant.

There are a lot of variables, e.g. visitor, visitor language, site language, classification of the content, pageviews per visitor, etc, so the number of visitors is not the only way to track your earnings.
