  To get started, I clicked on the link from ‘mariasmenu.com.’ I reside in India. In future, if I decide to upgrade to a paid plan, will I have to pay in US currency?

  Your site mariasmenu.com is not hosted by WordPress.com.
  It is using the self-hosted version of WordPress i.e WordPress.org.

  If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the self-hosted WordPress.org:

  Are you talking about a different site that is hosted on WordPress.com.
  For any upgrades on WordPressdotcom, you can pay in INR.
