Query regarding upgrading plan from Basic to Personal/Business

    I have a basic plan with no domain of my own. I want to upgrade to a better plan and simultaneously purchase a new domain. What I am concerned about is losing my existing viewership and content. Does buying a domain of your own means starting over? Or do I retain all of my followers and posts which are automatically redirected? And what happens to the preexisting links of my current site on other media platforms? Do they appear as broken links which I have to manually repair or are they redirected by themselves? Please help as I plan to buy a new plan before Christmas. Thank you in advance! 😊

    Hi there,

    Adding a plan will just enable the extra features of the plan on your existing site, and the site will just appear at the new domain instead of the free WordPress.com address in the browser address bar. The free address does not go away, but will automatically redirect traffic to your new domain, so all existing links will still work.

    Unless your regular readers pay close attention to the URL in the browser address bar, they might not even notice anything on your site has changed.
