Query: why does one particular image have so many views registering in Top Post?
-
For the past six days, there is one particular image that has a large number of views registering in the count for Top Posts and Pages (well, for this site it is a large number :)) but there have only been a small number of visitors. So, it appears the same visitor has been viewing the same image (which appears at the top of a page on the wordpress blog) many, many times.
It drives up the viewing stats but I am wondering what might be causing this situation? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In fact, it’s probablly that somebody has hotlinked your image OR that it’s doing well on a search engine but that people aren’t clicking through to read the article.

Thanks for the reply.
If it is (a) hotlinking – now that I’ve looked up what ‘hotlinking’ is, I think I have a solution to that.
If it is (b) doing OK on search engine – would that show up in the Referrals numbers, too? At present, the Referrals counts are low. So, I have presumed it is not search engine generated. Is that correct? -
It only counts as a referral if they actually go to your blog. But I believe it counts as a view if they see it on the search engine page. I could be wrong.

One of my images got an extra 30+ views in the last two days – a history site found my picture of a Sinuous Course Clock (for convoys to all zig zag at the same time in WWII – they put a plain link to the picture so I do get the counts and I saw their forum entry in the referrals section – so it is a clean link and they do visit my site – but happens from time to time
