Quesion About Pages
-
Hello. I like my home page showing all my blog posts and I want to keep that. However I wanted to see if I could link the same post to two pages. I want to make categories for my posts, such as National Parks or Canada, which I did. But how do I add my post to both the home page as normal and the category page, so it posts the same link twice?

Hello, WordPress.com makes it easy to do what you’re asking. When you assign multiple categories to a post, it will naturally appear on your home page as well as on each category page you’ve assigned it to. Here’s how you can do it:
- Assigning Categories to a Post:
- When you’re editing a post, look for the ‘Categories’ section on the right-hand sidebar in the editor.
- You can check multiple categories for a single post. For instance, if you have a post that fits both ‘National Parks’ and ‘Canada’, you can check both these categories.
- If you haven’t already created the categories, you can do so in this same section.
- Display on Home Page and Category Pages:
- By default, all posts appear on your blog’s home page (unless you’ve set a static front page).
- When a post is assigned to categories, it will also automatically appear on the respective category pages. You can access these pages via URLs like wheresleahbilquist.wordpress.com/category/national-parks/ and wheresleahbilquist.wordpress.com/category/canada/.
- Adding Category Links to Your Menu:
- To make it easy for visitors to find posts in these categories, you can add the category pages to your site’s navigation menu.
- Go to ‘Appearance’ > ‘Menus’ in your WordPress.com dashboard. Here, you can add the categories to your menu and position them as you like.
- No Duplicate Posts Needed:
- There’s no need to create duplicate posts for each category. The same post will show up in multiple places based on the categories it’s assigned to.
- Checking Your Theme’s Support:
- Most themes support this functionality, but it’s always good to check if your specific theme has any unique settings regarding category display.
By following these steps, you should be able to easily organize your posts into categories like National Parks or Canada, and they will automatically appear on both your home page and the respective category pages. This way, your visitors can browse posts by topic, enhancing the user experience on your blog.
