In my profile, my webmail adress is preceded by ‘dupe-2-‘. I certainly did not add this. No one contacted me sofar, and the mailadress in ‘Profile’ hasn’t turned into a workeable link I now see, so I don’t know whether this dupe-2 may screw things up…?

One email per account.
Somewhere you have another account with the original email – so you need to change this one. -

Yes, I couldn’t change it (by deleting ‘dupe-2’), ‘mailaddress already in existance’. So I choose another webmail. Again: ‘mailaddress already in existence’. Perhaps I used the second adress in an earlier stage for a blog I deleted again, can’t remember. So I’m gonna try one other webmail.
I already changed my password. -
Correction:
the second try holds. But when I return to profile, there’s under Contact Info still the dupe-2 mailaddress, and it won’t allow for changes. ‘Error: is already used by someone else’. -
I’ve also inserted the new mailaddress into the About text, link-sensitive this time, but clicking it gives ‘Page not found’…

Try changing the email address in Options->General (you will have to change it, receive an email, and confirm the change for it to change permanently).
I’m wondering if there’s a conflict between the info in the Options and the info in the Profile. Could be wrong, though…

I did that, In General there now is a new mailaddress featured. In Profile – Contact Information however the old address keeps hanging on, plus that prefix ‘dupe-2’. If I change that or try to delete ‘dupe-2’, I get a no-no.
It seems that the only trouble it gives, is that my ‘About’ mailaddress does not turn into an active link. Not the end of the world, though. I just hope it’s the ONLY side-effect. -
I have experienced this too. The email address In “Your Profile” will not change until after the change you made on the General Options page is complete i.e. after you have received the confirmation email and clicked the verification link in it. Once the change has been made to the General Options page it can then be made to the Your Profile page.

It’s still ‘dupe-2’ plus the mailaddress. On saving I get the message: Error; is already in use by someone else. ‘Dupe’ means fraud, swindle. But what does it mean?

I am having the same problem. my accoutn was fine until I started noticing this dupe crap in my profile in front of my email!!! Help!!
