Question #3
-
For reasons not mattering right now I have not yet filed for an upgrade. I choose the Dusk template which is very nice but of course there are always items you would like to see different. The width of my textfield, for instance, ‘Dusk’ is a narrow theme and there’s to the left and to the right quite a lot of basefielding. Screenwaste, actually.
…Yes, I know, I know, get an upgrade. But I just visited the Themes page in Options, where the template I have chosen is featured on top. This preview shows the template as it appears on my blogpage, except for one detail: the example shows a WIDER text field. It fills out till very close to the the left border of the page. Same with the side-bar on the right. Hardly any ‘wasted’ blogspace, here, and especially postings with illustrations will look less cramped.
How can this be? Is the preview an older Dusk-version perhaps, and the workeable template an upgraded version? Then why would the designer (Becca Wei) have opted for a narrow version, I wonder? Yielding to user’s requests? Or is it a matter of ‘here is my template, and don’t let me hear any nagging about it’. ? -
Just for reference, you’ll note that everybody else uses thread title that describe the question that they have. Please do the same next time. :)
The image just doesn’t show the empty space along either side. That’s just how the theme designer took the screen cap. The edited the sides out to show more detail. A lot of narrow width designers to the same, not just this one.

Sorry. I did add tags (albeit a bit clumsy ones) and thought that would suffice.
And I thought it was just a photostat from the real template. Got my answer, thanks.

Dusk displays differently on FF and IE; the wasted space you’re talking about doesn’t exist on IE6. I would guess that the snapshot in Presentations was done using IE, not FF.
And we can’t see tags from the front page. They’re not useful to me at least, speaking as a volunteer in the forum. Titles. Use the title.

WP Forum wants descriptive, meaningful titles. Right. Next time I’ll title with a clip from 1915’s Birth of a Nation; lots of grand guignol gestures, rolling eyes and swashbuckling.

That’s the spirit! … lol :D
Using descriptive titles means once the thread falls of the front page and goes into the forum search box it will be more readily available to others who have the same issues. -
I promise that my titles will be unforgettable:
“Does ‘wordpress.org’ means it’s vegitarian-friendly?”
“Help! Abandoned avatar assaults me!”
“Theme ‘Dusk’ so dusk I need streetlights all over the page”
“Urgent, got me a bad case of WP backticks!”
“How do I censor an anima mailflasher with a too mature attitude?”
“Pageborders closing in onmehelppleaz?”
“Item Resolved? What idiot said so!” -

= I heard Blogger is tested on kittens =
Blogger’s ok. But they go TILT over a Bart Simpson nudee. They don’t understand that the Simpson creator won’t sue them; Bart is simply intended to keep his skateboard unclothed.
