I created a domain name https://analuisapublishing.com/ and paid $19 dollars for it and cancelled it on the same day but I am not able to use that domain name because I get the following message this domain is already mapped to a wordpress.com site when i want to use it as a google domain.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Unknown
    Correct account: Unknown

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

When a domain is cancelled, it goes through a series of processes before it’s released back into the registry. These processes can be found here, and there’s no set time limit as to when it would be released.

Even when released, there’s a possibility it can be repurchased by someone else, so the domain would be unattainable completely. With that in mind, we never recommend deleting the domain if there’s some use intended for the domain.

Would you like to restore the domain?

A newly registered domain is subject to a 60 day ICANN imposed transfer lock from the the day of registration, but the domain can still be used with Google if you wish, via custom DNS settings. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/

    I hope this helps.

This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site. analuisapublishing.com is already registered. Please try another search.

  • Yes, you should be able to use the domain again on Google. Right now, the domain is in a 5 day cancellation process. Domains are not immediately released for new use, and have to go through this process. That’s not our rule, rather an internet-wise

There’s a chance that somebody else registers it ahead of you if choosing to wait out the 5 day period. This is a risk.

The only way to guarantee you can keep ownership of the domain is for us to restore it now. You would need to pay $19 again since that was refunded. We can restore the domain, you maintain ownership of it, and you can point it to any hosting provider you wish through DNS changes. Once the domain has been registered for 60 days you can then transfer that registration to Google or any other domain provider that you wish. Or you can leave it here. It doesn’t matter, so long as the registration doesn’t lapse you will maintain ownership of it year after year going forward, regardless of the provider.

Please write back and let me know if you want to wait out the 5 day period and then proceed with registering it on Google or if you’d like me to restore the domain in our system.
