Question about advertising on blog page
-
Hello,
My name is Amy Pickering and I am a Registered Dietitian and Saskatoon Weight Attitudes and Disordered Eating SWADE committee member. SWADE is based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and it is our mission to decrease eating disorders and disordered eating and improve body image issues for people in our community and beyond. SWADE is a group of health professionals, including dietitians, counselors, physicians, and psychiatrists who all specialize or have a special interest in eating disorders.
We have really enjoyed using the WordPress platform for our blog over the last few years. In the last year, we have started to put more focus on effort into a monthly blog. The program is easy to use and is a good fit for our group given we are non-for profit.
In doing the work we do, our focus is very much from a place of body positivity and Health At Every Size. We strictly do not promote weight loss and are actively fighting against the dieting industry and culture. We know that fighting back against our diet and weight focused culture will help people move to a place of care and kindness for their bodies, and hopefully reduce the incidences of eating disorders and disordered eating.
We have noticed that our blog occasionally has ads at the bottom. We are fine with having ads on our page, but we ask that no ads be placed on our page that promote or even mention anything to do with weight loss. It is very contradictory to the message we are sending in our blog posts. Is this possible?
Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
Amy Pickering, RD and SWADE Committee Member

We cannot control advertising on our sites and pick and choose this and that. Eliminating advertising placed on your site by wordpress.COM can only be done by purchasing an upgrade.
We have 4 different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wordpress.com plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Add a plan for each of your sites here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/.

The Personal Plan does have elimination of advertising as a feature.
How domain mapping works
Registering an underlying .wordpress.com URL first is required for domain mapping. What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content. It can take up to 72 hours for domain propagation to take place throughout the internet but it doesn’t usually take that long. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/Please go to https://wordpress.com/pricing/ to upgrade.
If you have any difficulties see what Staff said here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/custom-domain-89?replies=6#post-2882612
You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.
