Question about changing posts from private to public and subscriber notification
-
I have a small # of subscribers to nasontravels.wordpress.com I have maybe 130 posts. I set a bunch of my posts to private when I was job searching and didn’t necessarily want an potential employer to see I was out traveling for 3 months.
I want to set all the posts I had marked private back to public. If I do this will all my subscribers receive email alerts that these posts are now live? I want to avoid this.
Thanks!
(I quickly did a form ‘search’ and didn’t see this topic so my apologies for any redundancy in requests). The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, the engineers do change the way things work from time to time, but it’s my understanding that currently yes, all your subscribers would get new alerts. I could be wrong. You may just want to set one a day public to avoid flooding your subscribers. And subscribe yourself, then you can see if the posts come out as notification emails. If not, you’re all good.

It is, unfortunately, true. Subscribers get an alert for every post I change from private to public. Engineers – if you’re out there reading this – please add to the long wishlist from people to have the functionality where you can change posts from private back to public without your subscribers getting the alerts. They’ve already read the postings when they were originally made, my list, anyway, doesn’t need the email updates on these status changes. Thanks.
