Question about cost
-
I took over a site called riverbend golf.club. The domain is on godaddy.com and was built using wix.com. I’m familiar with wordpress and like it much better. The question I have is, with my free wordpress account can I connect to the domain on godaddy.com and take it over from word press? I see that I can, but do I need to pay for a personal plan to do this. I’m hoping since I already have the domain and paid for it for 3 years, I can just edit from word press at no additional cost. thanks much.

Hi Mike,
To use your own domain on a WordPress.com site, you’ll need one of our paid plans. I understand you already paid for your domain for three years, but that payment was to another company, and doesn’t pay for the service we provide on our end :)
You can find information on our domain connection upgrade here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Keep in mind that you can also transfer the domain to us completely if you prefer to manage everything in one place. That transfer is free with any of our annual plans, and will also renew the domain for an additional year, so the next renewal for the domain would only be due in four years’ time in that case.

Lastly, if you have content you want to migrate from Wix to WordPress.com, you can find information on our Wix importer here:

Let us know if you have any other questions.
