Question about counting page views

    Hi all,

I’ve created a blog on wordpress for some years. Since I don’t often share it with anyone, my page is quite silent. Most of the time, I’m the only one visiting the blog.

Today, I just noticed some weird stuff about my page statistics. The page view count was incredibly high (it’s often around 10, but today, it’s 110).

I assume that, when counting page views, wordpress will automatically exclude views of the owner. But today, everytime I refreshed the page: wordpress.com/stats/[my wordpress link] – it kept increasing by 1. I also use a flag counter to check, and it seems that the page wordpress.com/stats/[my wordpress link] is “visiting” my blog because the flag counter also recorded the visits from this page.

I wonder if anyone suffers the same issue, and is it a change in wordpress’s page view counting, or a bug, or it’s just accidental that someone is being highly interested in my blog today?

    Thanks a lot.

    L.

    Hi there,

“The two main units of traffic measurement are views and unique visitors. A view is counted when a visitor loads or reloads a page. A visitor is counted when we see a user or browser for the first time in a given period (day, week, month).

Your site is marked as private, so it is only viewable to you and those you invite.

    PLEASE NOTE:

Do Site Stats include my own visits to my blog?
Only for private blogs. For users with private blogs, your Site Stats page will show any visits that you have made to your own blog, as well the visits of other users who have access to your blog.

I hope this helps answer your questions.
