Question about Domain

  Hello!

  I’m redesigning a website for a client who already has a domain name and an active website that was built with WP. I am going to build the new site using WP as well.

  I’m not sure how to get through the first step of setting up the domain name. Would love some advice about this.

  Another question: Is it best to use my own WP account, or use the client’s account?

  When you start a site here, we’ll give you a free subdomain to build the site under.

  You won’t have to add the domain until you’re ready, and for that we have two options:

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

  As for accounts, if you’re planning to build the site site, I recommend doing that under your account, then transferring it to the client’s account when you’re done: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
