Question about domains

    Hello. I’d like to split my photography site into two sites. I would like the current domain to be associated with a new site that is completely redesigned with a new theme geared towards showcasing my portfolio of prints I’d like to sell. Then I’d like to revamp my existing site to highlight services I offer (weddings, family portraits, etc.), but I would put this site under a new domain name. What would be the best way to go about this? Can a domain be easily transferred to a new site, or should I just buckle down and go through the grunt work of making my existing site totally different, while starting a new one with a new domain to advertise services?

    Hi there,

    Domains can indeed be transferred to a new site, so here’s what I’d recommend:

    Start by logging in to your WordPress.com account and heading to the signup page to create the new site you want to use with your current domain.

    Then, you can go to your My Upgrades page to transfer your domain to that new site. (We have more details about how to transfer upgrades between sites if you’d like to learn more about that.)

    When you’re ready, you can then head to the Domains page to register the new domain name you want to use with your existing, revamped site.
