Question about Domains

    Hello! I’m building a website as a gift for a family member, and I’d like to build the website myself BEFORE transferring her domain name that she already owns. Is there a way to do that – build the webpage for free, and then transfer her domain name later?

    You can create a free site initially with a subdomain ending in .blog or .wordpress.com. When you’re ready you can transfer ownership to another account and they can upgrade to a paid plan to transfer/map the existing domain to that site.
