question about feature image Sela Theme
-
I have a question about feature images for Sela Theme
On this page, http://sarasiebert.com/web-2/ I will be uploading new images for the 3 child page linked to this page and I want them to show at this point.
That said when I click on one of them, let say child page “Banners” I don’t want the Featured image to appear at the top http://sarasiebert.com/web-2/web-b/.
OR,
is there a way to have the same feature image of the Web Parent page, appear on all child page linked to the Web Parent page ? http://sarasiebert.com/web-2/
I hope this is clear, and will greatly appreciate any help..I am building a portfolio, and suddenly this is not making sense aesthetically to me.
Thank you in advance ;)

This is possible if you don’t set featured image for web-b page. But this also means, on the parent page (http://sarasiebert.com/web-2/), this page appears without featured image.

This is possible if you set the same image as featured image on parent page and on child pages.
Please note that Sela has a grid template which displays all child pages in a grid. This looks cool if you have different featured images for each child page.
-
yeah I know that, but I want it to appear on one side but not the other :(
I agree it looks cool, but I wanted to insert some icons, on the grid page, and they will def not look good on the child page where the feature image will go, and I had not realized that until now.. I have put in quit some work into this and planing the flow :
-
If you have the Custom Design upgrade we can use CSS to hide the featured on the child page.
-
Actually I do,
any idea how I would go about that ? not very familiar with CSS.
Thank you.
-
Could you activate Sela on your blog and let me know on which page should we hide the featured image?
-

This styles hide feature images.
/* Hide feature image on SITE WEB page */ body.page-id-100 .site-content .hero .entry-thumbnail img{ display:none; } /* Hide feature image on BANNERS page */ body.page-id-102 .site-content .hero .entry-thumbnail img{ display:none; } -
Hi again,
I applied the code you suggested. It sort of does the trick, but not really either, see what it does: http://sarasiebert.com/web-2/web-b/
Where the image usually would be, there’s like a greyish background instead of it being white…You think that could be fixed ?
Since you seem to be pretty familiar with CSS let me ask you something else. I would have like to use a font that is on Type Kit, Cubano. Is there a way to use it with the CSS ??
Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. I threw myself into this not really know what I was up against thinking it’d be easy and all but I realise I do not have as much control as I would like to.
-
I noticed the greyish background yesterday but did not get time to figure the CSS to remove it . Anyway here is the CSS to wipe it off:
@media screen and (min-width: 1180px){ .entry-thumbnail { background: none; } }I am not sure if Cubano a Typekit font, however it is certainly not one of the available fonts on WordPress.com. So I am afraid we cannot use it.

Hi
I just wanted to know how you added the featured image on the webpage and where is the option to add the descriptive text in the box?Do you create a page and then use this as the feature image? -
@ thedreamcatcherblog,
Are you referring to the Sela theme? Do you have a WordPress.com website? Featured images are added with a module, found by default in the right sidebar, labeled “Featured Image.” Which descriptive text are you referring to?
-
Hi
yes I am using the Sela themed website with wordpress.com.The front page format has the featured image and a box in the middle where a description can be added.Yes but I would like to know how to add the feature image in the front page? -
Those boxes on the front page are not featured pages but the front-page widget areas.
For more information, please read the information under the Front Page Template section on the Sela theme support document.
-
There’s a module in every page or post editor on this theme titled “Featured Image.” You should find it in the right sidebar area, unless you’ve moved things around. It will look like this: http://snag.gy/Uvti3.jpg. If you don’t see it, you might have to check the appropriate box in the Screen Options drop-down menu (top of page).

@ chaitanyamsv
Sorry, I didn’t see your post before I sent mine. But I believe the member was referring to the Front Page template featured image.

The “box in the middle” contains the page content, and sharing and like buttons if they are enabled.

But isn’t that featured image option for a blog post. So you mean for that I have to create blog post for that image. What about the descriptive text then? http://snag.gy/cmEaZ.jpg
