question about forum markup
-
The instructions below the entry box say to put code between backticks. Does that mean I put backticks instead of the usual angle-brackets, or outside of them and put the angle-brackets as well, or what? I note that comments once posted can’t be deleted and I don’t want to make a mistake.

You just paste the entire code you want to show between backticks. So if the angle brackets are part of the original code, you should be okay to use them as well, as long as they’re still between the backticks. Try a test here if you like; that might be the easiest way to see if works.

okay maybe not. Can you explain again what you mean? How to get it to behave just like it would in a web page?

Just add it without the the backticks then and it’ll become an active link. For instance http://goodhunting.wordpress.com or Good Hunting will both work fine.
The reason we ask for code between backticks is that some codes are stripped out by WordPress and the only way we can see what’s going on is to see the entire code. So an image link or HTML code is best between backticks, but for a basic link like the one above, just enter it normally and it should show up fine. Is that clearer?
