question about guided transfer for moving to self-hosted blog
-
Reviewing your guided transfer service – I already have hosting space that I would like to use to self-host my blog. The service listing states that you will move a blog to a “partner” host – but I would like to move it to my current host, one that is not listed as a partner. Do you offer the service even when it’s not to move the blog to a partner?

Hi,
Guided transfer does require that you use one of our partner hosts.
Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on your hosting provider.
Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:

http://codex.wordpress.org/We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com
