Question About Installing A New WordPress Themes
-
The instructions says to “Upload the theme folder to /wp-content/themes/ to install.” How do I do that?

If your blog is at WordPress.com, you cannot use external themes. If your blog is an independent WP install, you’ll find help at WordPress.org. Differences explained here:

If you are hosted here at wordpress.com (domain mapped or not), you cannot. We are limited to the themes shown under presentation > themes.

Yes. We can’t upload themes to wp.com. With the CSS upgrade you can tweak the CSS or start from scratch using Sandbox. The domain name upgrade has nothing to do with it.

With the CSS customization upgrade, you can upload themes that have had their CSS customized for WordPress.com’s Sandbox theme. There was a contest to do this earlier this year, and I have one variant on my own blog. Note that the CSS upgrade is NOT recommended for those who are not already fluent in CSS. It is entirely possible to render your blog unreadable by mucking about with CSS, as two threads on the front page of the forums today attest. But if what you want is just to install what’s already been adapted for WP.com, it’s not difficult; quite the contrary. Just don’t start tweaking and expect support to fix it.
