Question about mapping a subdomain

    Hello,

I read the article about mapping a subdomain but I still have a couple of questions.
In the article it is written ‘Free with your plan, but registration costs at your provider still apply’. When I get to this point with mapping my domain, it is written: ‘$13 per year plus registration costs at your provider’. My question is if there is a $13 fee or not and to whom I should pay it – WordPress or my current provider.
Also I have chosen a free account for start and when I get to the domain mapping it is said that I have to have a paid plan to continue. Is this correct? If so, does it matter which plan I choose?
The main point is that I want my WordPress site to be a blog to my main page and I want to know if this is possible with WordPress platform and what are the additional fees I have to pay.

  • Hi there,

In order to map a domain to your WordPress.com account, you will need to purchase a paid plan, but the cost of the domain mapping subscription is included in the price of the plan:

    http://wordpress.com/plans

You will need to continue to pay the registration costs of the subdomain wherever it is hosted, but all you need to pay is for the plan which the $13 value of the mapping subscription is already included. For information on adding a subdomain, please visit:

    Thanks!
