Question about media and my 3 gb

  • Unknown's avatar

I somehow jumped from about 50% of my 3gb to 100% in maybe a couple of weeks? I can’t tell by looking at my media if I used some particularly large pictures. Can anyone tell me a simple way to check?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you are referring to?

This site has not been updated since 2016/04/05/.

If you upload lots of images into a WordPress.COM site that has no upgrade you can exhaust that free space allocation quickly. Currently, the only way to get an extra space allocation after you upload the images again, is to purchase an upgraded plan. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

WordPress.com Personal includes another 3 GB of extra storage, for a total of 6 GB.
WordPress.com Premium includes another 10 GB of extra storage, for a total of 13 GB.
WordPress.com Business includes unlimited storage space.

Images and media you upload into your media library and embed into posts and pages are on wordpress.COM servers. They remain visible unless or until you delete them from your media library. Deleting them from your media library also removes them from every place you embedded them in the blog and leaves behind broken links.

Staff cannot restore images you delete from your Media Library. You have to upload them all again, and then fix every broken image link in every post/page it was embedded into previously.

    Yes. Go to https://NAME_OF_SITE.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php

    * Replace NAME_OF_SITE in that URL with the actual name of your site.

  • Hi there,

You are actually using 23GB of storage. It looks like you had a 10GB storage upgrade and a Premium Plan which gives another 10GB previously, but both of those have expired meaning your available storage has gone back to 3GB. Files you added while the storage upgrade and plan were active are still there and you can still use them, but you won’t be able to add any new files to the library.

Your library has thousands of hi res images with file sizes over 5MB per image. That can eat through your storage space very quickly. You also have about 200 video files in the library, also with very big file sizes.

We don’t sell the storage upgrade any more so I can’t add that back to your site, and while you can buy a new Premium Plan it will only add 10GB to your storage, leaving you with only 13GB. To have more storage, and to be able to add new files to your media library, the only option now is the Business Plan which comes with unlimited storage.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
