Question about migrating my large WooCommerce store
-
I’m currently hosting my WooCommerce store on Hostinger’s Cloud Professional plan, which has the following resources:
- Disk Space: 250 GB
- RAM: 6 GB (6144 MB)
- CPU Cores: 4
- Inodes: 3,000,000
- PHP Workers: 200
- Max Processes: 400
- Bandwidth: Unlimited
My store currently includes around 107,186 products (including variations).
Recently, I’ve started experiencing serious performance issues — especially CPU overloads and timeouts when adding or editing products.I’m very interested in migrating my site to one of your official WordPress.com WooCommerce plans (Business or eCommerce).
Before I make this move, I’d like to ask a few things:- Can your WooCommerce plan handle a store of this size (over 100K products including variations) efficiently?
- Are there any resource limits (CPU, PHP workers, or database size) I should be aware of?
- Would your platform’s infrastructure perform better for large WooCommerce stores compared to my current Hostinger Cloud setup?
- If not, would you recommend Pressable or another Automattic-affiliated hosting provider for better performance?
Thank you for your time and guidance — I want to make sure the new platform can handle my current catalog before migrating.
Best regards,
-
Hi @aticadmin,
Migrating a large WooCommerce store (over 100K products) is definitely possible, but there are key considerations to ensure a smooth transfer and reliable performance:
- Pre-Migration:
- The process usually involves exporting your products, orders, and customer data from your existing site and importing them into the new site.
- Tools like the integrated WooCommerce CSV Import/Export, WP All Export/Import, or dedicated migration plugins can manage large data sets, but handling such a volume smoothly often takes careful planning and sometimes custom scripting.
- Performance Tuning:
- With a very large catalog, you should expect to optimize the hosting environment, increase server resources, and fine-tune caching, database, queries, and product indexing for best results.
- Some custom development may be required to streamline the experience on both the backend (admin area speed) and for customers.
- Migrating Images and Files:
- For many images and downloads, ensure they’re all transferred and properly linked in your product records.
- Potential Pitfalls:
- Migration can cause downtime or data loss if not planned properly. Always back up first.
- Large imports may time out or fail if handled with default settings.
This is exactly the kind of project I specialize in
