Question about password-protected posts

    Hi there,

I need to share a post with some colleagues before making it visible to the public. I want to password-protect the post, but here is my question: If I set a post to password-protected and then publish it, will be subscribers still receive an email notification about the post? If not, will the post go out to my subscribers once I remove the password protection and make the post public?

    Thanks so much,
    Heather

  • I’m afraid you’re in the wrong forum. This support forum is only for free WordPress.com blogs. You appear to have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different, and this feature may not work the same for .org sites as it does for .com: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Please visit the WordPress.org support forum for assistance as we won’t be able to help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

FWIW, on WordPress.com a notification is still sent out, but can only read it by visiting the site and inserting the password.
