Question about pings

  Hi,
  I’m fairly new to blogging and wondered whether pings get sent if I update information on a page I’ve created or only when I publish a new post.

  Well there’s a meaningful difference between pages and posts. It’s my understanding that pings only get sent when a post is made. Whether or not they’re sent when a post is updated, I don’t know for sure, but suspect not. If the post has substantially changed, you might want to ping manually using Pingomatic or Pingoat or another such service. Can’t hurt as long as you don’t do it too often.

  FYI: Pages don’t get pinged, because there is no feed for pages. Only posts are pinged.
