Question about Premium vs. Business bundles re: premium themes

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’d like to upgrade to a Premium bundle and am looking at several premium themes. I would like to try the themes out before settling on the one I will use for the long term. What’s the best way for me to do that? I don’t really need a Business bundle because I should be fine with email support rather than live chat, and I only need access to more than one theme for a couple weeks, until I decide on one. Also, I will not be purchasing a domain through WP as I already own it. What do you suggest?

If the only way to do this is to pay much more for the Business bundle, am I locked into $299/yr from that point forward, or can I drop to the Premium level in year two and keep the premium theme I decide on?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

If you’d like to check out various premium themes, you can preview them under Appearance > Themes in your site’s dashboard. You can use the search bar at the top of the page to find a theme and then click the Preview button to see how the theme would look on your blog.

You may also be interested in trying out our Unlimited Premium Themes upgrade. You can try that out by going to the Store page in your site’s dashboard and clicking the Try Now button next to that upgrade.

I’d recommend using one of those options instead of upgrading to WordPress.com Business, given that you know you’d like the Premium plan instead of the Business plan in the long run. You can upgrade to WordPress.com Premium whenever you’d like. Whichever plan you choose, you’ll have a 30-day refund period if you decide you’re not happy with it and you’re definitely not locked into the plan at the end of the year.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)

    Got it!

So what I will do is:

    1. Get a Premium upgrade right away, (I’ll need the Custom Design feature to test themes I’m considering).
    2. Get an Unlimited Premium Themes upgrade.
    3. Test the themes and choose one.
    4. Cancel Unlimited Premium Themes within 30 days.
    5. Purchase my chosen theme.

    Thanks for your help!

PS. I just noticed there is a “Try Now” button for both the Premium upgrade and the Unlimited Premium Themes upgrade. They allow a 2-week free trial for each, without charging my card until day 14. Perfect!

One question though: Does the 30-day refund period apply if I’ve used a 14-day trial? If so, does it start at day one of the trial, or at day one of the actual purchase? In other words, by choosing to start with a trial, do I have 14 days to try it out, 30 days total, or 44 days total before the $120 for the Unlimited Premium Themes upgrade is no longer refundable?

    Hi there,

The 30-day refund period does apply, and it starts after you purchase an upgrade. So if you start with a free trial, that time won’t count toward the refund period. You’ll have 14 days to try out the upgrade and then 30 days after you purchase the upgrade to get a refund if you change your mind about it. (We hope that the free trial period gives you enough time to experiment so you can purchase just the upgrades you really want after that. If you have any additional feedback about the free trials, we’d love to hear about it!)

I hope you enjoy trying these upgrades out, and please let me know if I can provide any further help. :)
