question about prohibited sale items

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I want to start an online shop for my small independent artist business and I draw a lot of horror art that often involves nudity and violence/gore. The prohibited items says nudity is okay as long as it’s not pornography (subjective) but specifically says violence and gore isn’t allowed. Does this extend to horror art?

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Our terms of service team evaluates content on a case-by-case basis, so it would depend on specifically what is depicted in your artwork, and where that falls on the scale our team uses to judge this. So I really cannot give you an answer whether or not it would be okay.

But our mature content guidelines apply to both photographic depictions of gore, and to other mediums, such as sketches, illustrations and paintings, so it would also apply to horror art, should the specific content depicted cross the line as we’ve defined it.

In this case, it might be a safer long-term option for you to go with a traditional WordPress host like Bluehost or Pressable instead, where the terms of service are less restrictive regarding the content on the site – I wouldn’t want you to set up a site with us, just to get it suspended if/when someone complains about the content.
