Question about Search Engines
-
Does seniority matter with search engines? In other words if I have my domain name and account with wordpress for 5 years does it show up higher or more in the searches than if I have a brand new domain? (Or if seniority does matter, do you lose seniority in search engines if you have a domain for a few years with one server, then switch to another server? (so say, moving from Wix to WordPress – is it like starting all over again or damaging in search engine results from a senority stance?) Thank you. Amy

Hello there,
Does seniority matter with search engines? In other words if I have my domain name and account with wordpress for 5 years does it show up higher or more in the searches than if I have a brand new domain?
Is the new domain on the same site? If yes, and there’s a 301 redirect, rankings will remain similar if not the same as Google will recognise the redirect.
so say, moving from Wix to WordPress – is it like starting all over again or damaging in search engine results from a senority stance?
Changing providers shouldn’t damage anything in this instance, if the same domain is in use, or if the old domain is being redirected.
I hope this helps!

Aleone89,
Thank you so much! It does help.
It is the same domain in both instances.
I do see that there is some redirection there.
(because, though it is the same domain, some of the old pages were removed when the site was redone, and those links are being redirected to 404 page)Thanks so much.
