Question about transferring a free WordPress blog to my own hosted solution?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello everyone,

I wonder if someone can help me please? I’m wanting to transfer my free WordPress blog to my own hosted solution in Network Solutions. Everything is set up to receive the files in Network Solutions and I did an export and imported that XML file into Network Solutions. However, nothing has changed. I called NS and they told me that I need a backup of all the SQL to import into NS… but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get that data out of a free WordPress site!!! :-(

Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance…

    Howdy bostonbrits!
Here is guide to help you with moving your site, which can help you with the full process Moving to Self Hosted
No SQL is needed for the import and export, just try to do the step again, also if you face any issues with respect to WordPress.org , you can look for help here WordPress org Support

Hope this helps, let us know for further questions..!

I am not moving to WordPress.org. I am trying to move to Network Solutions. I have installed everything correctly on the NS end, and have managed to import the XML file now with no errors, but still see the default site when I go to the link :-(

Does something else need to be configured for my exported blog site to work?

Thanks in advance for anyone’s assistance!
