Question about user roles for commenting
-
I read the doc page at http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ but am a bit confused about which role to give users to simply allow them to add non-moderated comments.
Does the author or contributor role apply here, or are those roles just for new blog posts, rather than comments? It’s not clear in the doc page.
Thanks,
doug

I don’t see a role for an Author or Contributor here > Comment Management and based on that my answer is “no”.
Blog owners are in complete control of the comments left on their blog. Users on the blog who have Editor or Administrator rights will have the ability to manage comments.
Who Can Comment
This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page. -
