Question about using blog for class (& whether contributors' posts need approval
-
I’m a professor and I have created a blog for my students to post weekly blog entries. (I provide them with a writing prompt; they post their responses as a new blog post– and then their classmates can post comments to each other). I’m listed as the administrator and the students are listed as contributors. The problem I’m running into is that when the students post their blog entries, they aren’t automatically published; rather, I apparently have to approve them first. The same goes for their comments. Is there a way to get around this? I’d rather have the students able to post/publish their posts and comments without me having to approve every single post and/or comment. Also, another related question– each time a students leaves a comment, I receive an email notification (over 100 emails in 3 days!) Is there a way to turn off this notification? I check the site every morning and evening, so I really don’t need the notifications clogging up my inbox. Any tips or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Angela

Could you change the students from Contributors to Authors? See https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/.
And to change notifications, My Sites >> Settings >> Discussion.
