Question: Can people see password protected posts and comments?
-
This is kind of confusing to explain, but I’ll try to explain it.
(Background) I have a password-protected post, and a person (who knows the password) comments.
I have two questions:
1) Can people (who don’t know the password) view comments left by people (who know the password,) posters?
And,
2) When they view the comments, (if they can) can they also view the password protected post located above the comments?
Thanks.

the surest way to find out if your post is password protected is by logging out of the blog yourself and going to your blog as a logged off user. if you see your post still password protected then it’s safe. when you logged in, once you enter the password it’ll stay open even though you exited the main page.
oh and no comments can’t be seen. i tried in another blog before. =P

(the password to the post is in the comments)

Only after you put the password in. (I think comments used to be visable without a password but someone argued that that shouldn’t be and staff agreed.)

Only people that have access to the actual posting editing and in this case, Mark and anyone else that is an editor or admin on his blog. That is it!

When it comes to choosing a password I would like to suggest that you do not choose an actual word. IMO a mixture of numbers and letters that do not resemble any recognizable word or acronymn is the way to go. And the reason I say this is because I have repeatedly guessed other people’s passwords over and over again. -

No I did not “crack” your password. I didn’t even try. What I’m saying is that people are predictable. They choose passwords that are their pets, kids or spouses names. The choose nicknames that people close to them know them by. They choose locations like the name of the place they live. They choose words associated with their hobbies, cars and music they like. They choose passwords that reflect their birthdates, etc. IMO the way to go is to create a random letter and random number password that is utterly meaningless.
