Question for experts- Need Categories inside Content Page with custom Css

  I need help here. Been trying to figure this one out for 2 hours.

  I want my wordpress blog to have “links” in the navigation that are my 5 categories – Right now my theme displays in the navigation pages instead of categories.

  THe hardest question is -> once I click the link I want to open the specific categories post but instead of the post I want post previews with a thumbnail. And I want to be able to customize this preview post to my liking. This previews would link to the original post.

  Basically I want to build a site that works like this one -> http://www.greyscalegorilla.com
  I saw some plugins and categories extender worked, but I was not able to change the style of the preview posts.

  Any help is appreciated
