Question: Global Tags Listing status

  Now that the tags are no longer routing to global tags listing page, should we expect to see the limitation of 40 tags lifted anytime soon?

  Having this limitation for individual blogs makes no sense anymore given that tags link to our own blogs and we can decide to have as many or as little tags we may want.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I don’t know anything about the 40 tags limit being changed and cannot find any reference to that. This is all Staff have said about the localization of tags and categories links.

  I think it’s the tag cloud which shows a limited number of tags, probably 40.

  1tess, yes I meant to say limit of 40 tags on cloud widget. It now makes sense to lift that limit, unless WordPress is working on something else in the background and this reroute of tags is temporary. It would help to get a clarification. As a moderator, do you have details?

  It’s been taking the same amount of time to get a reply back from staff posting to above link than posting here on forums. Would you mind keeping the modlook tag on so staff can reply if and when they see it? I have titled it as question since I need to make few decisions for my blog based on the input I get here.

  Frankly I don’t think this is a urgent enough issue to have a Modlook tag on it at all. This is not an issue Volunteers can deal with and Staff have support tickets for none urgent issues. Please use the process provided for non-urgent issues http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

  Sorry, didn’t know modlook is for urgent issues only. I thought it was specifically for staff to look at, otherwise everything on forum is for volunteers in general to answer.

  I may have wrongly posted this on Support section instead of Question.

  My last experience with using Contact form was not very satisfactory (in terms of time and effort it now takes to get any feedback). You may remove the modlook tag if it is inappropriate here. I can wait for the appropriate reply.

  I cannot remove your Modlook tag – only you or a Moderator or Staff can remove it.

  There’s no word on whether or not we’ll be changing the limit on the tag cloud widget, but I highly doubt it. The limit is really for aesthetic purposes.

  There are some blogs here with 500+ tags, and a tag cloud of that size would pretty much be larger than the blog itself.

  Ah! 500+ tags in a cloud would be a thing of wonder: 300 p text down to the nearly invisible 1 p lonely dot…

  The limit is really for aesthetic purposes.

  I’m guessing someone with that many tags, seeing a cloud bigger than their blog, would be unhappy.

  But there is no limit on category cloud text.
