Question, I am thinking of adding my domain from my website to WordPress.com. Additional details below
-
Ok so I currently use bluehost as my host provider, and I am using WordPress.org. My website is giveagirlablog.com in case it can help with checking out what’s best.
Because I keep having the issue of coming back into WordPress.com and it seems like everything wants me to post from the .com site, and not .org.
I’ve been trying to figure out what I can do about this.
I know I have posted a few questions before. Because originally I thought that I was only using WordPress.com, I didn’t even know that I had WordPress.org, until someone on here helped me and told me about it. I couldn’t believe it was possible, but it was.
I also am wondering if there’s any possible way that I can incorporate both? With like a plugin or something?
Or if not, if there’s any apps or websites that I can make my blog posts on, and then upload them to my website and they will go onto it correctly? I don’t care if the app, or site costs. And if there are, can you please give me all the options that there are, so that I can check them all out? I would appreciate it so very much!
Please help, I am lost!So back to the original thing that I was talking about.
About getting the domain On WordPress.com, or using my domain giveagirlablog.comSo this is what comes up when it talks about doing this: I’m not sure in which order it started talking about this, so I don’t know if it makes sense in this order, but it may make sense once you read down a dot.
without moving it from your current registrar.
Domain registration and billing will remain at your current provider
Manage some domain settings at your current provider and some at WordPress.com
Requires changes to the domain’s DNS
Free with your plan, but registration costs at your current provider still applySo please help and let me know what’s best to do about everything
Thanks so very much!

Hi there!
To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
You can connect your self-hosted, WordPress.org site to your WordPress.com account via plugin called Jetpack. This is your case with the site giveagirlablog.com. It is only connected to your WordPress.com account but the site is not hosted here. You can still access it via giveagirlablog.com/wp-admin if you prefer.
Now, you also have 3 different WordPress.com sites:
kevacares.wordpress.com
kevacaresblog.wordpress.com
ellendegeneresbiggestfan.wordpress.comThese sites are hosted here, on WordPress.com and you can upgrade any of it and connect or register a custom domain.
You wouldn’t want to connect your domain giveagirlablog.com as this one is used with your other site. If you have yet another domain (address), you can either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain related.Or you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com and we’ll be your new registrar. This way you’ll manage everything from one place and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)
Here you can find more information: https://wordpress.com/support/domain-mapping-vs-domain-transfer/
If you don’t have any domain but you’d like to add it to one of your WordPress.com sites, you can register it. Here’s more information about domains in general:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/
I hope that helps :)
