Question on Dashboard stats

I have been trying a few different things to see if I can get my Bog traffic up. I have tried writing a How To on e-how and having a link and putting out comments on my Facebook with a link to a specific Blog entry. Amazingly I went from 4 total views on my WordPress Blog in the first week I started it, to 8 in the first day I started getting the word out.

I obviously followed the links on those sites to make sure they worked. I just want to make sure that the 8 views that it showed for yesterday weren’t my own views. I know it says that our own views don’t count on the stats, but does it know it’s us when we follow a link to our own Blog? I don’t have to log-in from my links so it should recognize that it is me, but I’m not confident that is the case.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as you are logged into wordpress, then your visits will not count no matter where you came from. If you are logged out, staff has said that they MAY count your visits, but not necessarily. I’m not sure why the “may.”

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question. But I’ll ask anyways.
On 9th June I had 104 visitors whic I see on my dashboard stats. I have the Cluster Maps widget and it shows that the total visits from 28th May to 10th June as 109, which is inaccurate since the visits on all other days sum up to over another 100 atleast.

    Why this discrepancy?

If I am to post this question elsewhere, please advise.

    Thanks

The wordpress.com stats programs are on the same servers as your blog which means they are typically going to be more accurate since there is no need for the stats to be transferred back and forth over the internet.

Also, I expect the cluster map stats give “unique visitors.” WordPress counts page views If one person comes to your site and visits ten posts or pages, you will get 10 hits on wordpress. Clustermap will only show 1 since they just count unique visitors.
