Question on difference between Hemingway and Hemingway Rewritten theme

    Hi

    Hope that someone here would be able to help. I’m co-administrator on a WP site with the ‘Hemingway’ theme. I’ve stumbled upon another theme called ‘Hemingway Rewritten’. Is this an upgraded version and/or is it possible to make an upgrade or change the theme? My main issue that I would like to make an different and more static front page and move all the posts on the frontage to a separate landing page on the same site.

    This is absolutely possible on all themes. In your dashboard, go to Customize > Static Front Page, there you can set the homepage to display only a static page, and blog posts can be set to appear on a different page.

    As for Rewritten, I’m not quite sure what the differences are, but the simple Hemingway is not available here at WordPress.com.

    Both could actually be quite the same, and it does look like from Hemingway’s preview on WordPress.ORG. (which is a different platform, for self-hosted blogs.)

    Your blog in question, is it hosted here on WordPress.com or is self-hosted? Possible to post its link?

    Regardless, only Hemingway Rewritten is available to use for WordPress.com blogs, and can also be downloaded from here for self-hosted blogs.

    Thanks for your quick answer :) The dashboard options only provides information on the following:

    – At a glance
    – Activity
    – Site stats
    – Quick Draft
    – WP News

    so it doesn’t seem possible to customize the front page from the dashboard?

    I’m not aware if it’s self-hosted – does this have any influence? The domain is btk-viby.dk

    There’s no need to change theme if it’s possible to change the front page from the current Hemingway theme.

    http://btkviby.dk is a self-hosted blog, and it does make a difference because functionality of self-hosted blogs can be heavily customized.

    But I guess I know the problem, in your dashboard, do you see Appearance > Customize? If not, you’re not added as an administrator, rather an editor or some other role. Only administrators have access to it.

    Also, this forum is only for blogs hosted here at WordPress.com, so if the above doesn’t solve it, you can try posting at WordPress.ORG forums which deal with self-hosted installations.
