Question on pricing

    Hello,

I was looking at the pricing. I am a bit confused about the custom domain name and professional email. The custom domain name is free for one year for the WordPress Starter and Pro plans, while the professional email is free for three months. What happens after the free period? Will I have to pay more to continue having a custom domain name and professional email?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi there,

One domain registration is included for free for one year on all our plans. So from year two, you’ll pay separately for the domain and the plan. The renewal cost of the domain will depend on what domain you register – you can see the current renewal prices for all the domains we offer here:

    https://wordpress.com/en/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

Professional Email is a separate add-on upgrade (i.e. not in any way part of the plan) that you can add once you have a domain. The first three months are free, and you’ll only be charged for the remaining nine months at the end of the free trial period.

If you add additional mailboxes during this period, those will also only be charged at the end of the trial period, but that trial period is calculated from when you added the first email upgrade. In other words, if you add email today, you’ll only pay on 8 September. If on 1 August you add a second inbox, that will also be billed on 8 September, and so on.

From year two, you’ll pay the full annual renewal cost when the email upgrade is due for renewal; if you have multiple inboxes, those will all renew on the same date, regardless of when you added the additional inboxes.

I hope that answers your questions, but please let me know if anything is still unclear.
