Question re: IP Addresses

    I just noticed that when someone sends a comment that you also (always or sometimes, I’m not sure since i just noticed) get a WhoIs Notification linking to the IP. However, if you go to your blog Dashboard under Comments, the IP address comes up but not the access to the “Whois” page. Is it easily searchable via the IP numeric address? (Best site to use?) And is the only time you get the direct WhoIs link via the emailed notification of the comment?
