I would like to ask some specific questions before deciding which WP, themes, etc, to use. Can I email my questions to someone, or can someone email me at (email visible only to moderators and staff) and I will send the questions?

What type of site are you planning to create, and what type of features are you looking for?
I see you don’t have any sites yet in this account, so may I suggest you start with creating a free site and playing around with it a bit? That will give you a good idea of how WordPress.com works without it costing you anything but time:
