  If i get the $2.99 per month package, can i upload my own site and get a .com domain? Also, can i get plugins like add a live chat to my site?

  Howdy –

  There are 2 different versions of WordPress. What we do here at WordPress.com is a bit different from the WordPress installation that you use with a hosting company.

  Take a look at these details: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Plugins are not supported on WordPress.com due to our shared environment, this is true regardless of your plan. In order to use plugins you need an installation of WordPress and a hosting company.

  More details about this version of WordPress are found under the Getting Started materials at https://wordpress.org/ On the left hand side of the page.

  With the WordPress.com Personal Plan you will select a theme from our showcase to use on the site. This plan comes with a domain credit so you can add a custom domain or map one that you already own.

  I want to upload my own site and get the hosting and .com domain and also be able to use a live chat for business.

  My suggestion to review the differences between WordPress.com and self hosted WordPress sites to make the best decision for your level.

  Self hosted WordPress sites are hands on and have a greater learning curve. With that comes more customization

  You can always switch from one to the other if you get started and decide it’s not going to work out.
