    Hi all
Just wanted to know, when creating a website and upgrading to premium or business package are we able to sell products on this website as well and take payment online?

We are a local amateur sporting club and we want to sell our merchandise, will we get taxed on these products? We are not for profit organisation?

  • Hi there,

You can sell products and take payments on any plan, yes, even the free plan. The only difference is the specific options you’ll have available for this.

For example, on the free plan you’d need to use a contact form to take orders, with a PayPal button to take payments. You’ll need to create the button on PayPal, copy the code, and paste it into your post/page where you want to use it.

On the Premium Plan PayPal is still the only option, but you can create a product listing with an integrated payment button directly from within the editor.

On the Business and eCommerce Plan you can create a proper online store, with a product catalogue, a shopping cart, and integrated payment and shipping options with multiple providers using a plugin like WooCommerce (you can use any ecommerce plugin you want, but we recommend and provide support for WooCommerce, as it’s made by our company. WooCommerce is automatically pre-installed on the eCommerce plan, though you can use it with either plan.)

So it really depends on how many products you want to sell, how many payment/shipping options you want available, and how much you want to do manually :)

will we get taxed on these products? We are not for profit organisation?

That’s between you and the local tax authority where you’re located, so please consult a local tax attorney concerning your obligations in that regard. We only provide the tools need do to create an online store on your site, but we cannot provide tax, accounting or legal advice around running your store.
