    Hi, I would like to set up a website for a history project I am undertaking and I’m looking to purchase your premium package. However, I’m really new to this and a little unsure of a couple of things. 1) My site title has been created but I’m not sure if I need a blog or a website or are they both he same? 2) do I need to pay for someone to host my site? 3) How can I get an email address that reflects my sites name?

    A blog is just a piece of a website or project. It can stand alone on it’s own, or you can use it in addition. For example, a company may have a website that also includes a blog. That can serve as a space to provide updates, connect with customers, and humanize your presence online.

    2) do I need to pay for someone to host my site?

    You are welcome to continue using the free hosting we offer at WordPress.com. That’s how you are set up for theirlivesremembered.wordpress.com. If you wanted to remove the wordpress from your site address, and proceed with a custom domain, then you want to purchase an upgraded hosting plan. These are super reasonable, and our entry level option works out to be $4/month. It is not required though.

    Generally speaking, you need an active site address or domain and hosting in order for a website to work on the internet. I prefer to keep these items with the same provider because it’s easier to manage, but you can certainly register a domain name somewhere else and host that with us here for example.

    3) How can I get an email address that reflects my sites name?

    Great question. Custom email solutions are attached to custom domains. If you’d like to, for example use Grant@ or Hello@ then you need to register a custom domain as part of the personal plan, and add a custom email solution to the domain. If your hosting ever expires, then your email is also going to fail. Something to keep in mind.
