    Hello, I have a domain with GoDaddy and Hosting with another company.

    I want to use a free template but there seems to be a charge for ‘mapping’ the domain. Is there a way to just build a free template?

    Yes, you can build a free site on WordPress.com. However, the domain that you’re paying for through GoDaddy wouldn’t be able to be connected until the plan was upgraded.

    It sounds like you just want to try things out to get started. So, the free option is great. Follow these steps to choose that option.
