Questions about cost and setup
-
Hi — I am a freelance marketing specialist and will be designing websites for my clients. I need to know how much they will be expected to pay annually for their site (outside of my fees). I also need to know if I should create a separate account for each client, or if I can have them all under my WordPress account. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi
There is no one specific price or answer to the situation you present. On the annual payments – It all depends on what kind of sites you will be building for your clients and this is determined by the different plans, each will cater to the different needs and requirements for each client.
see here for plans: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/I would not recommend having all these sites under your account unless it’s set in stone that you will forever be the only one managing and updating these sites. If the clients happen to want to log into their sites for one reason or the other, this compromises a lot of security issues hence I would recommend they each get their separate account.

Hi there,
I need to know how much they will be expected to pay annually for their site (outside of my fees)
You can see the cost of our different plans here:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
So you’ll want to charge your clients the cost of the plan, and then also the cost of any domains they register – each plan includes one domain for free for the first year, but at the first renewal the domain will renew at a separate cost, and any additional domains also cost extra:
I also need to know if I should create a separate account for each client, or if I can have them all under my WordPress account.
This is really up to you. If you prefer to retain control over the sites and will be buying the upgrades on behalf of the clients, simplest would be to create the sites in your account, and then just give your clients access to the sites by inviting them as users in the user role they need:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
Your clients would need to register their own WordPress.com username account at https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/ before you’ll be able to invite them. Additionally, from our perspective you will own the sites and upgrades, not your clients, and only you will have access to our paid support channels.
Alternatively, your clients can do the initial site creation themselves, and use their own account to purchase the plan (which means they’ll also be responsible for renewing it), and then invite your account as an admin so you can do what’s needed. In that case, the client will own and control the site, and you won’t need to worry about factoring our plan and domain costs into your fees.
