questions about premium theme capabilities

    Hi,
    I have a couple of blogs with WordPress. I’m considering changing the premium theme for one of them, Tutawaza. A couple of disappointments with the theme, which is Newsy – The custom photo appears below the header, not in it, so it takes up too much of the page. The rotating photo option comes in an unattractive black frame. If there are ways to remedy these, I may stick with Newsy.
    Other themes I’m considering, and questions about them:
    Opti – Can I create a slider for photos or articles? Can I change the color of the header, which is now black?
    Massive Press – Can I change the color of this big black band? Or put a photo in as background instead of the black band? Can I change the font from the heavy one in the example? If I put a photo in as header background, can I still write my title across it?

    Hi Barbara,

    A couple of disappointments with the theme, which is Newsy – The custom photo appears below the header, not in it, so it takes up too much of the page. The rotating photo option comes in an unattractive black frame.

    These are part of how the Newsy theme is designed, but you could use a Custom Design upgrade to further customize the theme if you’d like. You could use Custom CSS to adjust the parts of the theme design that you mentioned.

    If you decide to go that route, you can get tips for CSS Basics and How to Find Your Theme’s CSS. You can also get CSS support from staff and volunteers in the CSS Customization forum here:

    Opti – Can I create a slider for photos or articles? Can I change the color of the header, which is now black?

    Opti does not include a slider, but you can create photo slideshows in posts or pages with a Gallery. You can also browse themes that include a post slider here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/

    The Opti header is black, but you’re welcome to upload a Custom Header Image or purchase the Custom Design upgrade to change the theme’s colors.

    Massive Press supports a custom logo (480×60 pixels). You can have both the custom logo and your site title in your header, but they will appear side-by-side rather than having your title written on top of the logo image.

    If you have the Custom Design upgrade, you could change the black header color or further customize the header image, if you’d like. The custom design upgrade also includes Custom Fonts if you’d like to change the font used in the theme.
